Converting Figma files into Lunacy/ Sketch format

Lunacy version: Help → About (F1 or Fn+F1)
OS version:

I have built a design system originally built in Figma, with components library, UI designs, typography, colors, buttons, dropdowns, etc. with multiple pages.

Now the company wants to have this design system in Lunacy and Sketch formats as well in order to create designs cross platform.

Is there any way to import the entire design system into Lunacy and Sketch formats?

Sure! I suggest you start by importing your Figma design system files into Lunacy:

  1. In Figma, click Share.
  2. In the displayed window, make sure that the Anyone with the link option is selected, then click Copy link.
  3. In Lunacy, go to the Home tab.
  4. Click Import from Figma. The document import screen opens.
  5. Paste the link to the Figma document and click Import.

You can find some more detailed info on how Figma import works in this article: Figma Import in Lunacy

Let me know how it goes!

Hi Alex! Thank you so much as always. I tried that, and I was able to import my Design System file from Figma to Lunacy.

Now, I have 2 questions, and I have also recorded my screen in order to explain these to you in order to request your help.

Question 1: How I can apply the Font Styles and Color Variables in my Lunacy file (that was imported from Figma). I’ve recorded a video of my screen where I am unable to apply colors or typography that I set in Figma. Though the colors and fonts/ typography is available in left side column, but I can’t find a way to apply to my design components.

Question 2: In Figma, all designs have Roboto fonts. Even I have set up font library with Roboto and Raleway fonts. However, the converted file to Lunacy has all fonts automatically changed to Inter. While I am able to see font styles in the left panel, but I see all my design components has Inter font instead of Roboto.

Fonts Automatically Changed to Inter Instead of Roboto.mp4

Please help. Many thanks in advance!

No problem, I’m glad that it worked! As for both of your questions, could you specify your OS and Lunacy versions, please? If you don’t have the latest Lunacy beta installed, please update by downloading Lunacy installer directly from our website and enabling beta updates: Help → About → Check for Beta Updates .

Hi Alex. Thank you so much for responding.
I’ve just now updated my Lunacy to Beta version (Lunacy 11.1.0.16426). My OS is Windows 11.

However, I am still seeing all fonts in my design components (in Roboto font, or any other font in my Figma file) changing to Inter font in Lunacy automatically.

And I am still unable to find a way to apply Font Styles and Color Variables in my Lunacy file.

Thanks for the clarification! At the moment, Lunacy doesn’t support font styles and colour variables from Figma files. The good news is that we’re already working on adding those features and the update will be out soon.

As for the font issue, we will need some more time to look into this. I’ll get back to you as soon as there’s any news.

Hi Alex, thank you so much!

I just explored a bit more and I was able to apply color styles in Lunacy :sparkles:

Now only thing remaining for me is retaining the font properties from Figma and applying font styles to the design components!

Would love to see the updates with these and new things :+1:

Hi Alex, Hope you’re doing well.

Just checking if you’ve got a way/update to retain the font styles (Font Family, Font weight, etc. - included in Figma local styles) from a Figma design file to Lunacy/ Sketch format while importing from Figma?

Also, one Feature Request:

Please create a way to directly convert a Figma .FIG local file to Sketch/ Lunacy without a Figma URL. Figma is frequently changing its user policies, and the users (including me) regularly create Figma local file backups for future.

If we could get a way to open the local Figma .FIG files directly in Lunacy without any URL or internet, that would be awesome.

Thanks!
