Just like the title says, I have ticked the option “Create local document by default” but it keeps creating the document in the cloud. No matter how many times I untick and tick the option again.

Please update to the latest Beta release and see if the issue remains.
Nope, did not work. The issue remains.
Hi! To help us resolve your issue, please contact us via Lunacy: Help → Report a Problem.
Two log files will be attached automatically. Please don’t remove them, as they are essential for diagnosing the issue.
Thank you!
Done (though I must admit I am not happy with the fact that you also send and extract my computer name and user details in the deviceinfo.txt file).
Thank you for sending it!
I wanted to clarify that one of the two files attached to the report is a log file, and the other is simply device info. The device info file is not mandatory. You can review its contents and delete it before sending it. Device information can be helpful if we cannot respond through Lunacy and need to use another method. In some cases, device info has helped us understand that errors come from the same user rather than different ones, and sometimes it also helps identify hardware issues.
Additionally, any files you have sent can be permanently deleted from our server.
Regarding the issue you are facing, it might happen because you press Ctrl+N after enabling an option that creates a cloud file. Please make sure you use Ctrl+Shift+N instead.
I hope this helps!
No, that does not help at all. I am well aware of the Ctrl+Shift+N shortcut. But if you include an option “Create local document by default” you would expect that a local document is created even when using Ctrl+N. Basically you have introduced an option that does nothing at all (and I am trying very hard not to sound cynical, because overall my experience with Lunacy has been positive). It will always try to create a cloud document. Or does “Create local document by default” mean something completely different?
Maybe it would be good for Icons8 to realise, that some people have clients, that do not want their work stored in the cloud. It is one of the reasons I use Lunacy and not Figma (or XD), as my main client deals with highly sensitive information and storing anything in the cloud may result in a hefty fine. So clearly, I do not want to accidentally create a cloud document, just because I forgot to press the Shift button.
I understand your point about issues related to saving documents in a cloud.
As we can see from the device info file you’ve sent, right now, you have the MS Store version installed. Lunacy performs best when it is up-to-date. Please uninstall the current version and download the app using this direct link: https://lcdn.icons8.com/setup/LunacySetup_9.6.1.exe
After that, enable beta updates like so: Help → About → Check for Beta Updates
Please let us know if it fixes the issue.
I used a sandbox previously installing version 9.6.1 (with the file, not from the store) and then updating to version 10 beta. This did not fix the issue.
We know this can be a bit tricky to understand, so let’s break it down.
The Ctrl+N and Ctrl+Shift+N shortcuts are standard ones for creating new documents in Lunacy. These shortcuts are linked to creating either a cloud or local document.
If you prefer to work with local documents and have chosen that setting, Lunacy will create a new local file whenever you click the Plus icon located on the toolbar. This is to make things easier for you and stick to local docs.
So, you have two options:
It’s not tricky, it is counter-intuitive and it makes it a mostly useless option. The behaviour I described (where a local document is always created when the option is ticked even in combination with Ctrl+N), is far more intuitive. And for the reasons described above (to prevent a document from being accidentally created in the cloud), also much more desirable. Disappointing.
What you say makes a lot of sense, and I get how important it is to avoid creating cloud documents by accident, especially with sensitive info involved. We’ve thought about changing shortcuts before, but most users prefer them to stay the same regardless of settings, so we kept them that way.
However, your feedback made us think about it differently, and we’ll keep it in mind for future updates. We want to make Lunacy as intuitive and secure as possible for all users.
