How can I duplicate and place an object based on the previously duplicated one? Currently, the duplicate is placed only to the right, but I want it to be positioned above or below the previous one.

You can duplicate objects like that via the Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V hotkeys.

You can specify the direction for the duplicates by manually duplicating the first object using Alt/Option. Then, press Ctrl/Cmd + D to duplicate the object in the desired direction.
